Holiday Season 2013

Apparently it is the holiday season once again. How did that happen so fast? The past few week I have been sewing non stop while finally catching up on Dexter. Only 3 more seasons left!
This year I am excited to be participating in 2 great craft fairs but also a little stressed out getting everything ready.
My collection of finished goodies is steadily growing.

but there is always more to do. This is a little bit of what I am working on today.
I have been working so hard that I killed my poor iron.
I had to run out yesterday and buy this guy. Hopefully he can handle the abuse.

If you are in the SF Bay area and you would like to see Petals live and in person I will be at the San Francisco Bazaar Holiday Show  on December 7th - 8th  and NightLife At The Academy on December 12th. Come out and say hi and get your holiday shopping done.

US Half Marathon

I started running just under 2 years ago. I ran my first and only full marathon in June 2012 and since then I have run 5 half marathons. I love running. I love hitting the pavement for an hour and clearing my head while keeping my body fit and healthy.
Last Sunday I participated in the US Half Marathon. this is my second time running it and it is my favorite of all the races I have run. The course is beautiful. You get to run across the Golden Gate Bridge!

Stopping twice to take pictures probably effected my time a little bit but it was worth it.
My husband thought it would be cool to do a mini photo shoot while I devoured my victory meal.

And here is a picture of my newest medal.

Aren't racing medals beautiful?

A productive week

I have been sewing up a store this week.
I started a week ago with this fantastic stack of cut out wallets
And now I have this fun collection of new wallets.
I addition to all this sewing I also ran a half marathon this weekend. I will post some more on that along with some pictures tomorrow.

All the pretty buttons

This weekend while I had a few hours alone I couldn't motivate myself to sew. Instead,  I decided to do some organizing. I spent 3 hours sorting and organizing my buttons.

Now they are all organized by color. And instead of dumping out 3 jars of buttons to find to color I need I just have to dump out one jar. YES!

Back to Work

I have been away from sewing for a long time. Too long. Being a mommy to a wild preschooler left me with little time to focus on sewing so I decided to put sewing and etsy on the back burner for a few months. My little boy is growing up fast and started kindergarten this school year so I have a few extra hours in my day now. So, I am back!

I have had a few very productive days of sewing the past couple of weeks and I am loving it.

Here are some of the things I have been working on.

Well, that is all for today hope you all have a great weekend!

My new sewing room and fabric organization

Last week I was forced to take my sewing machine into the shop to get the timing worked out. Unable to get any sewing done for 1-2 week I decided to take on the task of organizing my fabric and finishing setting up my sewing room.

A few months back I saw a blog where someone had wrapped their fabric on comic book boards making mini bolts of fabric. I loved the way it looked and how easy it was to view and organize all your fabric. I decided I needed mini bolts of fabric too. Of course I had to do it the hard way. Since we just moved we have a ton of boxes just hanging out in our garage so instead of buying actual comic book boards I decided to cut my own. Trust me my fingers are not happy about this decision and if I had to do it again I would just spend the money to buy them. After several days of cutting and wrapping I finally got all of my fabric wrapped onto little hand cut pieces of cardboard. Even after donating a huge bag of fabric to East Bay Depot I quickly ran out of room to display my mini bolts of fabric. After doing a little research online I went to target and picked up this shelf in a light wood color to match the furniture I already had. I managed to get all my fabric to fit with no room to spare. Yesterday I rearranged my furniture, hung up the rest of my pictures and finished decorating my little creative space.

Here are a few pictures of my new favorite room.

I love it so much! I can not wait to get my sewing machine home and actually work in here.
